This here is my March 2006 clutch out of Redshift and Mindwipe. The kids are spunky with one of the older chicks already showing
their mom's bossy but friendly attitude!
The bald chick and his sibling are Thor and Hammer. They're the first clutch Mindwipe and Redshift had together. These chicks
were co parented, a new teqnique I was thrilled to experience. I kept the chicks in a brooder until feeding time. Then I took
them out to place with mom and dad. This took the responsability of handfeeding off my shoulders while still producing wonderfully
tame chicks. To do this successfully, you require exceptionally forgiving parents who don't mind you handing their chicks.
That's how wonderful Redshift and Mindwipe are. They allowed me to play with their children while they sat in their feeding
box all the while tolerating me as I groomed their offspring. The unfortunate thing with this clutch is that dad managed to
pluck Hammer bald. He also managed to remove one of Hammer's toes while in the nest. This was before I intervenined. Despite
all this, Hammer's feathers came in beautifully and even with the missing toe he can perch very well. I believe the reason
Hammer was plucked so badly was because I was slow pulling the chicks from the community cage. Mom and dad thought the quail's
hiding box was a wonderful nest and dad may have plucked and bit Hammer's toe out of frustration. They have not harmed any
of their other chicks since. Redshift still tried feeding his March 2006 chicks weeks after I pulled them for handfeeding!
Meet Spookie (the cinnamon) and Fuzzbutt (the grey). These two were hatched in October 2004. They were the first clutch I
had to handfeed from teeny weenie babies. They were chicks out of Redshift and Swindle before Redshift decided that Mindwipe
made a great wife. The kids were spectacular and I will forever miss these two.
Goldfinger! He's the first bird I bred. He's since moved on to new owners. I miss him terribly, but he's got a good life as
a potential breeder through someone in my parrot club. In this image he's 7 months old and he's just started to get his yellow
face.
Unfortunately this is the only picture I have left of Tsivil and Sirus. All the good ones were wiped when I reformatted the
hard drive **cries**. They had just taken the biggest poo before I'd taken the picture and that's why the sheet isn't as clean
as it would have been!
